Latest album, Lunchbreak Concert, is live and streaming!
In other news, the London Repertoire Orchestra programmed my Ten Minute Symphony for their 2026 spring season, playing it in Feb under the baton on fellow brit composer, Dominic McGonigal.
My next project, Tooting Back, is very much in the studio. This album is jammed full of brassy things, featuring a brand new trumpet concerto, and a brand new tuba concerto. Full of oomph and oom-pah. Eoin O’Gorman has just finished recording the trumpet solo, (sounds brilliant), and Chris Claxton is busy tackling the tuba part. He’s endeavouring to post some insights into his journey of learning and recording the piece on his instagram channel triplectuba – give it a follow.
Big shout out this week to Chris Edwards for the original (and so very cool) album artwork. I can’t wait to share this with everyone.
What is Steve Chowne Music?
With ten albums of his compositions now shared with the world, Steve is nothing if not busy. He has played violin, flute and piano since very small, and the trumpet since somewhat bigger. He has several guitars (on which he’s rubbish) not to mention various electronic bits of kit that make funny noises. And a broken sax, which squeals.
He is a playing member of symphonic and chamber orchestras, chamber groups and lurks in the brass in a windband. And when he’s not constrantly [honest] pracitsing repertoire from Suk to Shostakovich, he’s likely to be on his bike listening to the birds and trees, no doubt writing or developing a new tune.
